Predator done, plus more

I really buckled down and got that Predator finished off. I’m really pleased with it, particularly the way I can use it as a Rhino, Razorback or Predator with all the various weapon options.

I’d bought a Razorback model at the same time as the Predator, and I busted that one out too, adding a converted las-plas weapon option for the turret. I still need to paint the heavy bolter and the lascannon, but it’s done otherwise.

And, to finish off, I painted a Librarian, with a magnetized left arm so I can switch pistol options.

Lots of pics this time so I’ve put them into a gallery. Enjoy!

Podcast Guest Appearance

Posted in Blather, Games with tags on February 8, 2012 by stingersix

I was invited to be a guest on the Independent Characters podcast, which is all about 40K. I had a great time and I want to say thanks again to the hosts, Carl and Geoff, for having me on, and to Adan for getting the hook up. Check out the show here.

I’ve noticed a spike in visits to this blog since the show went live last Sunday and I’m assuming it’s because You And What Army got a shout out on the show. Yay!

For those of you just finding me here, thanks for visiting! I’ve been blogging about my experience painting 40K minis and the 40K gaming I’ve been doing for the past few months, so you might think that this blog is just about 40K. But I like sci-fi minis in general and I have and will continue to post on stuff besides 40K. If you look at the tag cloud, you’ll see Stargrunt looming large there, and most of the battle reports I’ve posted are about that game. There are also posts about all kinds of other minis like old Metal Magic stuff, Starship Troopers, Battletech and so on.

So, while 40K is holding my interest at the moment, I haven’t forgotten my old standbys! I’m getting the urge to play Stargrunt again too!

Sternguard

Finished off that Sternguard squad a couple weeks ago but realized I hadn’t posted about them. So here are a few shots to make up for that.

First up is the metal Sternguard that come in the box set. They’ve got lots of bling and such molded on to them and look pretty nice. I added the Terminator honors on the backpacks, and the banner pole.

Next are the plastic ones I made from some leftover Tactical Marines. These are the ones I magnetized the weapon arms on, so I can switch them around. I added a few extra bits – Terminator honors, extra purity seals, master crafted bolters and so on. The combi-weapons are all conversions, as is the heavy flamer. I’m really happy with how these came out, and they blend with the metal models fairly well too.

These two are my favorite of the metal models. The guy with the banner has a great, dynamic pose and is a really cool mini – love the one-handed bolter action! But the guy on the left has a sort of subtle badass-itude I really like.

Much progress being made on the Predator! Watch for it!
